Meet the Team: Sue Fountain

Sue has a Bachelor of Business Studies in Accounting from Massey University and brings a lot of experience from her work in business advisory, accounting, HR, and office management. She’s also Xero Certified and a Certified Coach, which means she’s able to offer a well-rounded approach when supporting businesses. Sue enjoys helping her clients with their business needs and is a big believer in the value of good processes and solid bookkeeping.

Here’s a quick Q&A with Sue, where she shares a bit more about her background, career journey, and what she likes to do in her free time:

When did you join the My Two Cents team and what is your role?

I joined MTC in early September and I am one of the Bookkeepers in Haley's team. I work with a variety of different clients who need bookkeeping support to help them to be compliant with relevant tax and other regualtions and / or achieve their business goals. I am a team player and like to help my colleagues when I can.

What inspired you to pursue a career in accounting/bookkeeping?

I knew at high school that I wanted to be an accountant. I really liked the logic of double entry bookkeeping and although I have done other roles, accounting and bookkeeping have always been at the heart of what I do.

What is your top tip you would give someone starting a business for the first time?

If you can, do something that you are passionate about but make sure you can view your business objectively and take advice from informed people you trust

If you weren’t in accounting, what other career might you have pursued?

Engineering

What do you like to do in your free time?

I do all sorts of crafty activities - sewing, patchwork, quilting, applique, embroidery. I also like spending time with friends and family. Spending time with my two grandsons -George (3) and Harry (1)  is up there on my list.

What's a fun fact about you that your colleagues or clients might not know?

I used to race a Mini Cooper S

What's your top TV or book recommendation?

I enjoy Colin from Accounts (of course) and The Dog House (UK and Australia versions)
