Upcoming Xero Price Changes and New Plans: Everything You Need to Know

At My Two Cents Accounting, we are committed to keeping our clients informed about important changes that may affect their business. We wanted to notify you about upcoming changes to Xero’s pricing and plans, which will take effect from 12 September 2024. We understand that price increases can be challenging, especially in the current economic climate, and we want to provide you with all the necessary information to help you navigate these changes.

Quick Summary:

  • Xero plans will increase in price from 12 September 2024.

  • Those with the payroll add-on will be impacted significantly. Our bookkeepers will call you directly to discuss options.

  • Starter, Standard, and Premium Plans will not be available to purchase, upgrade, or downgrade to from 12 September.

  • Three new business plans—Xero Ignite, Xero Grow, and Xero Comprehensive—will be offered, enhancing the existing Ultimate plan.

  • Add-ons will no longer be sold separately; instead, their functionality will be included in the new plans.

  • Your existing plan will be upgraded between 12 September 2024 and March 2025. Xero will notify you directly and give you 60 days’ notice should you wish to choose another plan option.

Upcoming Xero Price Changes

On 12 September 2024, the price of Starter, Standard, Premium, and Ultimate plans will increase in NZ.

Starter

  • Current: $33/mo

  • New: $35/mo

  • Change: +$2

Standard

  • Current: $71/mo

  • New: $75/mo

  • Change: +$4

Premium

  • Current: $94/mo

  • New: $99/mo

  • Change: +$5

Ultimate

  • Current: $105/mo

  • New: $113/mo

  • Change: +$8

  • These changes relate to Starter, Standard, Premium, and Ultimate subscriptions in NZ.

Introducing the New Plans from Xero

Xero has informed us they are simplifying the choice of plans to better meet your needs. Here’s their new plan line-up:

Xero Ignite Plan

The Xero Ignite plan provides accounting basics to help simplify business admin for the self-employed and businesses that are starting out. It includes:

  • Reconciling bank transactions

  • Capturing data from bills and receipts with Hubdoc for simpler record keeping

  • Sending up to 20 invoices and entering 5 bills a month

  • Tracking and filing GST returns

Xero Grow Plan

The Xero Grow plan offers streamlined accounting tools to help automate admin for self-employed and growing businesses. It includes payroll and expenses (expense and mileage tracking) for one person a month.

 

Xero Comprehensive Plan

The Xero Comprehensive plan includes streamlined accounting and payroll for businesses with employees. It includes:

  • Payroll and expenses (expense and mileage tracking) for up to five people a month

  • Send and receive payments in multiple currencies

  • Advanced cash flow predictions (Analytics Plus)

 

Xero Ultimate Plan

The Xero Ultimate plan includes accounting, payroll, and forecasting tools for businesses with employees or those who want a plan that includes features to scale for future growth. From 12 September 2024, it will include:

  • Payroll, expenses (expense and mileage tracking), and projects for up to ten people

  • Advanced cash flow predictions (Analytics Plus) and multi-currency

 

Phased Move to New Plans

From 12 September 2024, Xero will begin moving subscribers to a new plan in phases, considering their current plans and add-ons. You will receive a minimum of 60 days’ notice before any changes.

Timeframe for Moving to New Plans

Xero intends to move subscribers to new plans by March 2025.
